Even the humidity in the air will make wood swell and since a polyurethane is a harder finish is more likely to crack because of the weather.

WEBJul 21, 2021 · Get some grey scotchbrite and a can of johnsons paste wax or similar. Put the wax on the scotchbrite, put the scotchbrite on the table, rub. Be forewarned, it takes some serious practice to get a consistent sheen throughout a tabletop, and burning through a layer of polyurethane will mean stripping all the wax off and recoating the table in poly.

They are good finishes, and it's recommended to apply 6-7 coats. At the cost of that stuff, 6-7 coats of any spar should work for a year or so.
