The former president visited the battleground state of Michigan on Saturday, in his first public rally since his attempted assassination one week ago. He appeared before a packed Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has been sued by Donald Trump's presidential campaign and the Republican National Committee for allowing federal Veterans Affairs and Small Business Administration locations to be used for voter registration.

While Republicans kicked off their convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Monday, Donald Trump’s presidential campaign and the Republican National Committee filed a lawsuit in Michigan against Michigan’s Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson over ballot box placement.

The campaign claims top Michigan Democrats are improperly allowing state and federal agencies to register voters this year without proper permission.

Georgia and Michigan moved in tandem during recent presidential elections. In between, voters elected governors of opposite parties, Democrat Gretchen Whitmer and Republican Brian Kemp.

The suit contends the Democratic governor and secretary state are improperly using some federal offices as voter registration sites.
