The beleaguered Boeing Starliner spacecraft that took two NASA astronauts to the International Space Station will attempt to make its uncrewed return to Earth on Friday evening, the company has announced.

Leaving its crew behind, the Starliner is expected to undock and head for landing in New Mexico to wrap up a disappointing test flight.

The company is facing a massive 32,000-worker strike, which could kick off this month if Boeing and the International Association of Machinists (IAM) union aren't able to reach an agreement ahead of the expiry of their contract on 12.
