NEW YORK - A brush fire in Van Cortlandt Park is causing smoke and traffic delays in the area. The fire broke out just before 7:45 a.m. near East 233rd Street and the Major Deegan Expressway. It grew to two alarms, with more than 100 firefighters and EMS personnel responding. One firefighter suffered a minor injury, officials said.

Dry conditions have persisted and with no rain in the immediate forecast, several Massachusetts communities are dealing with significant brush fires.According to the Department of Fire Services, as of Monday there have been 106 brush and wildland fires reported over the last week.
