Two more cases of the mosquito-borne dengue virus were confirmed Wednesday in Baldwin Park, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. While Los Angeles County is reporting three locally acquired cases of dengue this year -- which is rare for the region -- there have been at least 3,085 cases nationally of locally acquired virus so far this year,

According to the health department, none of the patients had any history of traveling to areas where dengue is endemic.

A case of dengue fever, a mosquito-borne illness, has been reported in Pasco County. That has officials working to spread awareness while controlling the mosquito population.

According to a press release obtained by NBC News, the press conference was to provide "a situational update on a cluster of locally acquired dengue cases under investigation in LA County."
