The Vanderbilt Commodores defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide 40-35 on Saturday, October 5, at FirstBank Stadium in Nashville. After the victory, Vanderbilt fans tore down the goalpost and paraded it down Broadway before tossing it into the Cumberland River.

Specifically, an eight-inch banana yellow metal bar, that until Saturday night, was part of the Vanderbilt Commodores football field — for $4,035. As of Monday afternoon, all the available pieces of the goalpost were sold out,
