Amid controversy over the use of animal fat in ghee at the Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh, the Karnataka government on Friday issued a directive mandating the use of Nandini brand ghee in all 34,000 temples.

The controversy surrounding the alleged use of animal fat in Tirupati laddoos has sparked reactions from Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu and BJP leader Nalin Kohli, calling for an investigation. Both ministers emphasized the importance of maintaining devotees' faith.

In the midst of a controversy over the usage of animal fat in Tirupati laddoo production, Indian dairy company Amul issued a statement clarifying that it never gave ghee (clarified butter) to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD).

Reacting to the Tirupati laddu issue, former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy stated that the TDP is "politicising religious matters."

Amul clarified that it has never supplied ghee to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam amid misinformation on social media.

TDP leader Gandi Babji accuses YSRCP of using animal fat in Tirupati Prasadam, prompting an investigation by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan expresses shock, while YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy plans to write to the PM and Chief Justice of India about the issue.

Union health minister JP Nadda sought a report on Tirupati temple laddus row from Andhra Pradesh government and promised suitable action after examining it.
