Only 39 copies of the Pokemon card were ever made, and experts now predict the collectable will start a bidding war that could exceed a quarter of a million pounds

A rare Pokémon card which was expected to fetch more than £8,000 has failed to reach its reserve and secure a sale at auction. Owner Jon Free, from Great Blakenham in Suffolk, had hoped the card would spark a bidding war at the auction on Monday.

Only 39 versions of the Pokémon Illustrator were ever made, and now one of the rare cards is being auctioned by French auctioneers Aguttes.
